People who know me have heard me talk about C.A.R.E. which is the Evanston Illinois no kill animal shelter. I think very highly of them and have adopted most of my cats through them. On August 14th 2001 the president of C.A.R.E., Linda Gelb, had a house fire and most of her animals died. She is licensed to take care of many sick animals and fosters/adopts animals out of her home. The number of animals that perished were apparently over 50 thus far, including 28 cats and 4 dogs. She has nothing now, her house is basically gutted and her surviving animals are at different animal emergency clinics. To add insult to injury she has to pay for the medical bills of the survivors which is why I am writing to you. Any donation you can make to help her, even if it's $5, would be tremendously appreciated. This woman financially and emotionally bent over backwards to take care of and help so many unwanted dogs and cats and it's now time that people help her. Please make any donation you can and make your donation as soon as possible, the information is below:

Linda is doing well but apparently the firemen had to pull her from her burning home while she tried to save her animals. The fire started in the kitchen when the refrigerator literally exploded. She had a Maytag refrigerator that was about 4 years old and may have had some mechanical defects in it. This tragedy was not her fault and she almost died trying to save her babies. Please help. Thank you.
